Dear Colleagues,
The Office of Research Administration (ORA) is pleased to share an important update regarding the implementation of the Employee Compensation Compliance (ECC) system, which will replace the Effort Reporting System (ERS) for all salaries with Earn End Dates on or after April 1, 2025.
As announced at the Research Administration Forum (RAF) on September 11, 2025, ECC is scheduled to launch this month. To support a successful transition, please review the following key updates:
- Training: Instructor-led sessions for Departmental Administrator (DA) users are now available. Registration is open via the EFM website. Additional details can be found in the announcement titled “Registration Open: Employee Compensation Compliance (ECC) Department Administrator Training.“ Training materials for Certifier users (Principal Investigators and Collaborating Investigators) will be provided in video format, with more information forthcoming.
- Access Management: Department Security Administrators (DSAs) should assign the ER5-Coordinator function in DACSS to users requiring Department Administrator (DA) access in ECC. For further guidance, please refer to the announcement titled “Action Required 9/26/25: ECC Implementation Departmental User Access.“
Please note Certifier access (Principal Investigators and Collaborating Investigators) will be automatically provisioned based on their assigned Accounts-CC and Funds. DSAs do not need to take action to grant access to Certifier users.
For questions or assistance, please contact ECC Help.
Thank you for your continued support as we prepare for this important system transition. Another announcement will be sent when the system is live.
Sincerely,
Katie Cadle | Manager
